Mustard Organic Sprouting Seeds
Description
Mustard sprouts delight with a strong, pungent flavor that is even more intense than radish sprouts. The delicate leaves, with their violet-green color play and characteristic small, heart-shaped leaf forms, add a spicy accent to any dish.
Taste & Appearance: Strongly pungent with a typical, intense mustard aroma. The fine sprouts are dark green on the top of the leaf and violet-brown on the underside, with a violet-green-white stem - a visually striking and tastefully distinct eye-catcher.
Usage: Perfect for livening up salads, dips, spreads, and pestos, ideal as a topping for sausage and cheese sandwiches, and as a spicy addition to herb quark and soups. Heating or blanching reduces some of their pungency - making them particularly suitable for cold dishes where they remain fresh and crisp.
Cultivation: Grow classically in a sprouting jar or on a cress sieve - the sprouts germinate reliably and are ready to harvest after just 3 to 7 days. Note: Mustard forms fine root hairs that should not be mistaken for mold.
Ingredients: Organic mustard seeds (Sinapis alba / Brassica juncea).
That's how quality is done.
Before the seeds are sold, each new batch undergoes an extensive quality control process to determine its germination capacity:
- Microbiological Testing: Our suppliers test each batch to ensure that no seed-borne pathogens such as fungi, bacteria, and viruses are present.
- Standard Testing: A standardized test is carried out as a first step.
- Adjustment of Growing Medium: Depending on the variety and the results of the first test, the procedure is repeated on a different growing medium.
- Additional Testing: Special varieties undergo a third test, which includes specific conditions such as the use of heating mats.
